Still the place

After consecutive furnace blasts today’s opine is a soothing visual treat, featuring highlights from last week’s vacation.

On what was my third visit to Palm Springs, California, the city cemented itself as my go-to warm weather destination, and why not? Located on “the floor” next to picturesque mountains, Palm Springs emits a delicious tonic of modern panache, 1960s stylishness and southern hospitality. And it does so with zero attitude. Examples include the contemporary modern furniture at H3K Home + Design; the ultra cool 1960s-themed art at the Shag Store; and Wilma & Frieda’s excellent breakfast served by super friendly, attentive staff.

We lucked out and caught the perfect weather week, sandwiched between ongoing cooler than normal weather. Whereas the week(s) before and the week after saw temperatures in the mid-60s, we were treated to mid-to-upper 70s with wall-to-wall sunshine. (And, our resort carries the Big Ten Network so I was able to watch both the IU men’s and women’s basketball teams play!)

Like I said, no “heat” this week. Just relaxing photos documenting another groovin’ time in the land of milk and honey.
