SUMMER OASES

Backyard beauties

Last Saturday, the garden group I belong to produced its 4th annual garden walk. The eight gardens were delightful, each reflecting the vision, creativity and dedicated labor of the homeowners.

The weekend of the garden walk kicks off Friday night. During our preview party homeowners, who are stationed at their own garden during Saturday’s walk, can view all the gardens, meet other garden walk homeowners and mingle with garden club members.

Saturday’s weather threatened to spoil the fun, but a few intermittent showers didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit. It was a beautiful day. In the end, lasting memories were created while we successfully raised money for our local food pantry. And it was a lot of fun.

Even yours truly gathered a few ideas to improve my slowly evolving garden! (One of the highs, when sitting near my garden, is seeing hummingbirds dart amongst the collection of coneflowers.)

Now, as the captain says, sit back, relax and enjoy the photos.
