SENSATIONAL SUNDAY
Magic in the city
It was not a day at the races, or a night at the opera. However, the 90 minutes spent at the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago last Sunday with a friend were indeed pleasurable. (Due to the pandemic a time limit was imposed on how long visitors could browse). The weather, just like the flowers, plants, shrubs, trees, and ponds at the conservatory, was perfect - upper 60s with mostly blue skies made for pleasant strolling.
Roaming the expanse at GPC was a soothing contrast to the relentless pandemic (although mandatory mask-wearing was a constant reminder of the times we live in). The traverse was even better due to limits on crowd size. While readily acknowledging that reducing visitors is not good for businesses, it is wonderful for patrons who prefer room to breathe, and space to casually wander when taking in cultural experiences.
While the main purpose of our visit was to view the temporary Monet garden exhibit, which is fabulous, the rest of the conservatory grounds are equally extraordinary.
Before I start to babble, check out these 15 photos taken during a wonderful Sunday morning in the city, compliments of the acclaimed Garfield Park Conservatory. The first 10 photos are from the Monet exhibit. (All photos credit The Weekly Opine)
