American exceptionalism gives way to buffoonery

In September of last year, 34x felon Trump, in another stroke of madness, signed an executive order renaming the Department of Defense the Department of War. Ostensibly, the change was intended to deliver a strong message of deterrence, resolve and readiness to fight and win. Unfortunately, like everything Trump touches, it was destined to fail, or at best, earn an “I” for incomplete (like the long ago promised, still largely incomplete 2,000-mile border wall that Mexico will not pay for.)

When you think about the players on both sides the outcome – America’s mighty military defeated by Iran’s cunning and strategic capacity – was never in doubt. This fight required mental acuity alongside physical weaponry. America has arguably the world’s greatest military. However, the U.S. military operates under the command of a likely pedophile and a suspected alcoholic.

Together, Trump and Pete Hegseth are responsible for the disaster in Iran. It was diabolical from the jump. Rapidly lying, as are his custom, Trump tantalized media suckers and greedy Wall Streeters. It was almost comical. Evil Trump would boast about the war winding down and/or blowing Iran off the map. Boozy Hegseth backed up Trump’s nonsense with lies about Iran’s military having been incapacitated.

A shell of their former selves (Exhibit A is CBS News), many media anxiously stoop to please Trump. The accommodation and timid acceptance of lies about the status of the war, peace negotiations, and misunderstanding of what constitutes a ceasefire have embarrassed many journalists. There are refreshing exceptions but as an industry the media is neutered, now closer to being a tool of the State than independent guardians shining light on the darkness of criminally fueled authoritarianism.

Wall Street, controlled by corrupt men, feasts on Trump’s blinding lies. In a laughable call-and-response cycle, Trump dangles bait in the form of unverified pronouncements on weekends. Then markets surge on Monday and, as the week progresses, Trump is proven a liar. Pavlov’s dogs would be envious of the media’s and Wall Street’s submission and obedience.

War is hell, more so when you lose

Despite Hegseth ranting that Iran’s military was kaput, Iran’s regime had enough in the tank, or better said, enough brainpower, to more than survive. Iran defeated America’s one-two punch of a mentally deranged president and drunkard head of the Department of Defense. (Sorry boys, but when it takes Iran only three months to scare you away, calling it the Department of War is a joke.)

Iran won a war that, at the outset, was proclaimed by the Trump administration and some military commanders to be a war that would fulfill biblical prophecy, with American victory preordained. OH-kay… but somebody forgot to tell Iran.

Based on reporting re: a memo of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. and Iran, the incompetent Trump and unqualified Hegseth are waving the white flag of surrender:

· No regime changes in Iran. The same dictatorial, authoritarian family is in charge, with the son replacing his father who was killed by America’s military. The son, whose wife was also killed, surely will not be quick to oblige the U.S. After announcing in February that regime change was the reason for starting his war, to stop nuclear bomb development, Trump now says he “never cared about regime change because regime change never works.” (Trump changed the regime in Venezuela.)

· Iran’s pre-war, anti-regime protesters whom Trump claimed he wanted to help – prior to starting his war of choice – will likely re-double their hatred of America. With an average age of just 32, Iran’s youthful population will not soon forget America attacking their country.

· Iran retains the ability to develop nuclear energy for consumer use. According to Trump, Iran agrees to never develop or acquire a nuclear bomb. This was already in the Obama administration agreement with Iran that Trump terminated during his first term.

· Iran retains its stockpile of enriched uranium. This will enable Iran to jumpstart nuclear development for military purposes (i.e. develop a nuclear bomb). Under the Obama administration, there was no enriched uranium. After Trump cancelled Obama’s deal, Iran acquired enriched uranium.

· The Straight of Hormuz, open for free passage prior to Trump’s asinine decision to start war with Iran, is now closed. When the Straight of Hormuz re-opens, Iran apparently will charge a fee for ships passing through the Straight.

· The U.S. will unfreeze $24 billion that will go to Iran. When Obama unfroze just $1.7 billion Trump lost what little of his mind he had left. But wait, there’s more…

· The U.S. is arranging for a coalition of Middle East countries to provide $300 billion to Iran for infrastructure rebuilding. Hence, Trump is paving the way for Iran to receive a total of $324 billion, compared to the paltry $1.7 billion Obama made available to Iran.

· U.S. relationships with NATO allies have been ruined by Trump’s bluster and sheer ignorance. Our remaining ally, Israel, is fuming now that Trump is attempting to end the war in Iran and pushing Israel to stop fighting in Lebanon.

· Iran has gained more leverage in the Middle East.

· Not only is the U.S. disrespected globally, but the Trump administration is also a laughingstock at home, the most distrusted, inept and corrupt presidential administration in American history.

· China and Russia, both of whom reportedly assisted Iran, are winners as U.S. super power status stalls.

The MOU are talking points, a launch pad to start intense negotiations. It is not the same as a firm contractual commitment. Given how mentally unstable key U.S. diplomats are (e.g. Marco Rubio), and how inexperienced negotiators are (e.g. Jared Kushner), and considering no one outside the administration has seen anything on paper, and considering how often Iran contradicts what Trump says, this deal is a long way from being finalized. Having already lost the war, if the rumored deal is consummated, Trump will cement his standing as an epic fool. Or, as he would say, a sucker and a loser.

A microcosm

Rather than turning straw into gold, everything Trump touches turns into manure. There are myriad examples. Possibly the most visceral is Trump stupidly painting the bottom of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool dark blue, creating an easy to foresee gross algae mess. (On cue, Trump blames Obama for the mess in the reflecting pool. This is another illustration of why I wrote last week that Obama made a colossal mistake inviting Trump to tour the Obama Presidential Center.)

Oh, and the U.S. is on the verge of losing measles eradicated status, due to the ignorance of Trump, deranged conspiracy musings of RFK Jr. and dumbass senators like Dr. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) who voted to confirm RFK Jr. to lead Health and Human Services.
